East African Water Development Group is a non-profit working to provide clean and healthy water to impoverished and under-developed communities. Our first priority regions are Maroodi Jeex & Awdal of Somaliland/Somalia, as well as Faafan, Jarer and Siti of Ethiopia. Initially, our first project is Abaarso in Northern Somalia and partnering with local communities, government, and other organizations to ensure the people have access to safe and healthy water that is suitable for consumption. Our goal is to expand and help small towns and rural communities in other parts of Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Djbouti improve their quality of life by ensuring the quality of the water they drink, clean, and cook with.

About Us
Our organization found its beginnings when Ahmed Jirde, the founder and chairman of East African Water Development Group, was on a trip from Djibouti to northern Somalia. As he drove along, he noticed that people were getting water from the dirty road. He then discovered that the water source on the surface was contaminated and not suitable for consumption. This realization led to the formation of our organization with the sole purpose to help improve quality of life in these communities with the hopes of eventually expanding our reach to other communities in need. East African Water Development Group is a 501(c)3 organization created in California, dedicated to ensuring clean water access in every community we can. Your donation, whether you volunteered time, money, or equipment, will be used to expand infrastructure through our water charity.
